Latest Photograph - 'Misty Trees', Pulborough

16th March 2012
My latest picture is one that I have had in mind for some time. In an adjacent road to where I live is a line of Norwegian Maples that have a stunning form. I knew there was a photo to be had, but I needed the right conditions to prevail to be able to shoot it.

I woke yesterday to another morning of fog. I had been out once before, but the fog was not thick enough for my needs. (remember: there is always someone out there who is loving the ‘rubbish’ weather!) The area is very residential and I needed the fog to screen out the surrounding houses and cars. I had, in my head envisioned the trees cloaked with fog to make more of their structure so it was a double win.

The photograph was composed to show the line of trees disappearing through the image coming to a point with the converging lines of the bank just beyond the trees and the edge of the road.

The initial edit was to reduce the prominence of the foreground, to add a toning layer and to sharpen the dominant tree with a selective High Pass Filter.

Looking at it again, I thought it would suit a bit texture so I overlayed the image with several texture layers, adjusting the opacity to suit.
