Potters Manor - Urbex debut
04th September 2011 - 0 comments
After much research and planning, I took off yesterday to photograph 'Potters Manor House' in East Sussex before it is sold and gets pulled down. This was only my second such urbex mission and I was a bit jumpy as I parked up, climbed over the fence and worked my way through the bushes to what I was hoping was the house. As I rounded one big clump of shrubbery the house loomed into view and I was filled with excitement and dread in equal measure.

Approaching the very derelict house and ultimately climbing in through an open/broken window into what was a large living room, I realised with some degree of concern, that nobody actually knew where I was.....

Once safely inside and with a slightly slower heart rate, I began to shoot. For more of the images from the day click Here

My inspiration for this visit was the work by an amazing photographer called 'Miss Aniela'.

I recently went to the very derelict cement works in Shoreham. It is a site that I have wanted to gain access to for a long time but it is still in use and securely gated. I did however get into the adjoining site over the road to have a poke around...

Worthing Bus Fair
31st July 2011 - 0 comments
Today I went out with the camera and just headed to Worthing on a whim. When I arrived it was heaving with people, classic cars, busses, stalls and fair ground rides.

I seem to have picked a good day to visit!

Had a great day at the Sussex Prairies yesterday with Marianne, Paul, Pauline and fellow photographers.

You cannot go wrong with a day of focussed photography. I learnt a fair few things and these are some of the photos from the day.

One day, twelve hours, nine categories, two very sore feet.

Saturday 11th June 2011 saw the first ever Brighton Fotothon. A full day's shooting in Brighton with set categories but an open mind.

Judged by a panel including Charlie Waite.

The end result: Around 1000 images of which one of mine has been selected as 'Highly Commended' in the category 'Brighton's Back Passages'

Fotothon Brighton 2011

I attended the Brighton Fotothon 11th June 2011 as the first ever photographic competition I have taken part in.

The basis of the competition was to shoot nine categories during the day and to submit the photographs for subsequent judging. I found it to be a very interesting and useful exercise in that it forced me to really think about what I was shooting and why.

Follow the link below for the photographs that I submitted for judging.
